Job Description

This contract position offers you the chance to make a meaningful difference as a Special Education Teacher, working with grades 912 in a structured setting that emphasizes reading intervention and executive functioning skills.

Your core responsibilities will involve:

  • Managing a caseload of 1620 students, providing individualized instruction in reading intervention and executive functioning.
  • Teaching essential study skills and supporting students with academic organization, planning, and learning strategies.
  • Collaborating closely with general education teachers, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student success.
  • Developing, implementing, and tracking Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance with state and district requirements.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation and contributing to a positive, inclusive classroom climate.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a closely related field.
  • Completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program in special education.
  • Valid Minnesota teaching license issued by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB).
  • Demonstrated skills in the Standards of Effective Practice and specific special education licensure areas (e.g., Learning Disabilities, ABS, EBD).
  • Successful completion of student teaching or a practicum experience.

Preferred candidates bring:

  • High school classroom experience, particularly in reading intervention and executive functioning.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development and compliance processes.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

This full-time assignment runs from September through Thanksgiving 2026, with hours from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
