Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current, valid Special Education Teacher certification (SPED) for the state of Louisiana
  • Experience or strong interest in working within a middle school setting
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to support a range of learning abilities
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to creating a nurturing and effective classroom culture

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and accommodations for middle school students with varied exceptionalities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Track student progress and maintain accurate records in line with school and state requirements
  • Participate in IEP team meetings, faculty meetings, and ongoing professional development
  • Contribute to a safe, respectful, and encouraging classroom atmosphere
