Job Description

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Michigan Special Education License required
  • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Teacher Certification is mandatory
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in K-1st grades, preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and adapt individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with autism

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction tailored to students with autism in kindergarten and first grade
  • Develop, update, and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • Collaborate regularly with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive classroom experiences
  • Create structured routines, behavioral strategies, and engaging lessons that support student success
  • Monitor and document student progress; adjust teaching strategies as needed to meet evolving goals
  • Cultivate a positive, supportive, and safe classroom climate
