Step into a pivotal role supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. Located in New York, NY, this full-time contract opportunity consists of a 40-hour workweek, with hours from 7:15 am to 4:15 pm. The chosen educator will deliver specialized instruction, provide support to students with diverse learning needs, and collaborate with staff members to foster academic and personal growth.
To be successful, candidates should possess:
- A valid New York Special Education Teacher license
- Certification to teach grades 1-6
- Experience or demonstrated skill working with elementary-aged students
- Strong understanding of special education practices, IEP development, and compliance
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with colleagues, families, and support staff
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and implementing individualized education programs for students in your caseload
- Differentiating instruction according to each childs unique needs and abilities
- Managing typical classroom behaviors and supporting positive student outcomes
- Maintaining accurate records and progress reports aligned with state and school requirements
- Working closely with related service providers, parents/guardians, and fellow educators in a team-based environment
