A dynamic opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher specializing in an Intensive Autism Classroom serving K-5 students. This contract position involves working closely with young learners who require tailored educational strategies and individualized support in a collaborative school setting in Fairfield, CT.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing specialized instructional plans aligned with each students IEP, delivering direct instruction, and monitoring progress. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes growth and independence for students with autism.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with children aged Kindergarten through 5th grade, specifically in intensive autism programs
- Strong knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and evidence-based instructional methods
- Ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, staff, and related service providers
- Patience, creativity, and dedication to fostering a positive classroom atmosphere
