This full-time, contract role invites you to work in a structured and nurturing environment, providing specialized instruction tailored to a diverse group of learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Youll play a vital role in helping students build foundational academic, social, and life skills to achieve meaningful progress.
What Youll Bring:
- Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License, or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience developing and leading Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- In-depth understanding of special education compliance and documentation
- Strong skills in classroom management and positive behavior support
- Proven ability to collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Preferred Experience:
- Prior work with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Experience in self-contained classroom settings
- Familiarity with ABA strategies, structured teaching, visual supports, and communication systems
- Background in supporting students with significant behavioral or cognitive needs
- Training in crisis prevention or de-escalation techniques is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction based on IEP goals and state standards
- Implement evidence-based strategies, PBIS, and tailored behavioral plans
- Work closely with SLPs, OTs, psychologists, and other specialists
- Guide and mentor paraprofessionals within the classroom
- Track and document student progress to ensure compliance and positive outcomes
- Foster growth in communication, social-emotional skills, and independence among students
