This full-time contract opportunity is designed for a skilled Special Education Teacher eager to work within a self-contained program, providing specialized instruction and behavioral support to elementary-aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based instruction aligned with state standards and individual learning goals
• Cultivate a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment that promotes communication, social skills, self-regulation, and independence
• Employ Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and effectively manage Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and behavioral specialists
• Oversee and support paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
• Conduct ongoing data collection and analysis to inform instruction and ensure compliance with documentation requirements
• Utilize strategies such as visual schedules, ABA principles, social stories, and functional communication systems

Required Experience & Skills:

• Possession of a valid Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility to obtain one
• Strong background in developing and implementing IEPs, with familiarity in compliance documentation
• Demonstrated classroom management skills and proficiency in supporting students with behavioral needs
• Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills with families and multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Experience:

• Teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly in self-contained settings
• Experience supporting students with significant cognitive or behavioral challenges
• Training in crisis prevention and de-escalation is a plus
