Job Description

Provide specialized instructional support for elementary students in a dedicated special education setting within a vibrant school district located in Springfield, OR. This contract position offers a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week for the current school year, with the potential for renewal based on performance and district needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering individualized and group instruction to a caseload of approximately 32 elementary students with mild to moderate disabilities.
  • Implementing tailored educational plans with an emphasis on students who may spend the majority of their day in the special education setting, as well as those who receive services intermittently.
  • Collaborating closely with paraprofessional staff to ensure classroom support and student success.
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
  • Working within the district guidelines and complying with state teaching standards and certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Oregon Teaching Certification in special education is required.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students with mild to moderate disabilities.
  • Ability to effectively differentiate instruction and manage diverse learning needs.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with paraprofessionals, general education staff, and families.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Location and Additional Information:
While the primary assignment is in Springfield, this role may involve coordination or occasional travel among nearby communities including Eugene, Lowell, and Corvallis (approximately 50 minutes away).
