Job Description
Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students with special needs in a collaborative educational environment. A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher to work with a caseload of 15 students in grades 9-12. The position runs the full academic year, starting August 3, 2026, and wrapping up on May 27, 2027, offering 40 hours per week.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Tennessee Special Education teaching license, 067 endorsement required
- Previous experience working with high school-aged students in special education environments is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and adapt instructional strategies to individual needs
- Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with other educators and support staff
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and compliance requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to a caseload of 15 high school students within a CDC (Comprehensive Development Classroom) setting
- Develop, execute, and monitor individualized education plans in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
- Adapt curricular materials and modify teaching approaches for diverse learning needs
- Partner with paraprofessionals and district supervision as available to facilitate student progress
- Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and documentation in line with district and legal expectations
- Participate in parent meetings, IEP conferences, and professional development activities
