Job Description

Make a difference as a Special Education Teacher supporting 2nd and 3rd grade students with developmental delays or intellectual impairments in a dynamic school setting near Somerville, MA. This full-time contract position runs onsite from 8:00AM-2:30PM, starting as soon as possible and extending through June 25, 2026. You'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality instruction and individualized support, working closely with colleagues and families to champion your students growth.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Massachusetts teaching license or certification for Moderate or Severe Disabilities is required.
  • Previous school-based experience is essential for success in this role.
  • Must be able to pass a CORI background check and fingerprinting (letter of suitability from a previous employer may be accepted).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a team of educators and support staff.
  • Passion for nurturing students abilities and adapting learning activities to varied needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and progress.
  • Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, therapists, and family members to coordinate services and instruction.
  • Monitor and document student achievement, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, professional development, and school events as part of the school community.
