Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing specialized instruction for students as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting near Shelbyville, TN. This role runs through the end of the 2026-2027 academic year, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on approximately 23 studentsincluding one learning Brailleby delivering both direct and indirect services. Youll focus exclusively on instructional minutes and will not be responsible for case management.
Key Qualifications:
- Active, valid Tennessee Educator License issued through TNCompass
- Eligible licensure tiers: Practitioner (initial 3-year standard or alternative/job-embedded) or Professional (6-year advanced)
- Must hold at least one of these TDOE Special Education endorsements:
- Special Education Interventionist (K-8) for mild-to-moderate disabilities
- Special Education Interventionist (6-12) for mild-to-moderate secondary
- Special Education Comprehensive (K-12) for severe or multiple disabilities
- Special Education Early Childhood (Pre-K-3) for early intervention
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with diverse learning needs, including Braille, is valuable
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality special education instruction per IEP service requirements
- Provide both direct and consultative services, supporting student progress and inclusion
- Collaborate with general education staff, therapists, and families to meet student goals
- Document and communicate student progress effectively
- Maintain compliance with all state and district guidelines
