Job Description

A special education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year in Schenectady, NY, supporting a caseload of approximately 20 students. This role involves providing specialized instruction and support within a school setting, working closely with students to address their unique learning needs and help them achieve their educational goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments and evaluations to determine student needs
  • Delivering direct special education instruction and intervention
  • Collaborating in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Participating in IEP meetings and contributing to team discussions
  • Managing a caseload of students while maintaining documentation and progress records

Qualifications and experience:

  • Valid New York State Special Education teaching license required
  • Experience working with special education students, understanding individualized instruction and intervention strategies
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage a caseload of 20 students and maintain organized records

This contract role involves approximately 10 hours per week at one school location. Compensation includes paid travel time, and mileage reimbursement may apply, offering flexibility for those with itinerant assignments. Interviews are conducted via Zoom, and hiring decisions are typically made within 24 to 48 hours after interviews.
