This full-time contract opportunity focuses on a center-based classroom serving K2 students with developmental cognitive disabilities (DCD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Work alongside paraprofessionals and related service teams to create a supportive, structured environment tailored to high-needs students, helping them achieve meaningful academic and functional growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License
- Preferred licensure areas: ASD, DCD, ABS, or cross-categorical special education
- Hands-on experience supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities
- Demonstrated skill in writing IEPs, collecting and analyzing progress data, and designing individualized interventions
- Strong ability to implement proactive behavioral supports and effective classroom routines
- Familiarity working collaboratively with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a center-based autism or DCD classroom
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
- Expertise in sensory regulation strategies and functional skills instruction
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction, behavioral supports, and individualized programming for approximately 6 elementary students in a high-needs setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Foster a positive classroom climate and coordinate with paraprofessional staff
- Engage families as partners in student success
- Utilize evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies
