Make a difference in the lives of high school students as a Special Education Teacher supporting grades 912 in a full-time, structured learning environment near Saint Paul, MN. This contract opportunity runs from September 2026 through Thanksgiving 2026, with hours from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, giving you the chance to make a significant impact in a defined period.
Your role focuses on targeted reading intervention and strengthening executive functioning skills for students with diverse needs. With a manageable caseload of approximately 1620 students, youll be able to build meaningful relationships and offer individualized support. You will:
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in reading intervention and study skills/executive functioning
- Support students academic organization, planning, and learning strategies
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers and multidisciplinary support teams
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain compliance with state and district special education policies and reporting
- Track student progress towards IEP goals and communicate developments effectively
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field required
- Completion of a state-approved teacher prep program in special education
- Minnesota teaching license in a special education area (such as Learning Disabilities, ABS, or EBD)
- Demonstrated competency in Standards of Effective Practice and Special Education core skills
- Successful student teaching or practicum experience
- Preferred: Experience with high school learners, a background in reading intervention and executive functioning, and strong knowledge of IEP development and compliance
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting
