Job Description

Exciting opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers to support elementary students in a self-contained Exceptional Student Education (ESE) setting. This contract assignment, located in the vibrant northwest region near Saint Johns, FL, offers fulfillment in guiding diverse learners and making a tangible impact in a supportive school environment.

You will be based at a single school site (location assignment to be confirmed), primarily serving elementary students with varying exceptionalities and learning levels. The role spans the academic year, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through late May 2027, with a consistent weekday schedule totaling 35 hours per week.

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • Active Florida ESE certification
  • K-6 or PK-3 General Education certification
  • Successful experience teaching in a self-contained special education classroom
  • Strong commitment to fostering growth and inclusion for learners with diverse needs
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
  • Organizational skills for managing classroom schedules, individualized plans, and IEP documentation

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging, differentiated instruction in a self-contained classroom aligned with student IEPs
  • Assessing student progress and regularly updating goals in partnership with support staff
  • Implementing evidence-based strategies and accommodations for varying learning and behavioral needs
  • Creating a safe, positive classroom climate conducive to social and academic development
  • Communicating clearly with parents, administrators, and team members

Credentialing requirements must be met, including Florida school district fingerprint clearance (potential verification through the AHCA Clearinghouse) and completing a virtual prescreen interview upon initial vetting.
