Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary aged learners as a Special Education Teacher. In this role, you'll work with a caseload of approximately 10 students in grades 2 to 5, with the possibility of K-5 students joining as the program evolves. The setting is enriched by a dedicated team of seven educational assistants, providing an exceptional staff-to-student ratio to empower student success. This full-time position offers 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, so you can enjoy your evenings and weekends.
Qualifications:
- Special Education (SPED) Certification required
- Experience instructing elementary school-aged children, preferably within special education
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with educational assistants, students, and families
- Adaptability to teach various grade levels, including the potential expansion to K-5
- Passion for fostering inclusive learning environments that nurture growth and achievement
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
- Collaborate closely with the team of educational assistants to maximize individualized support
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary
- Establish a safe and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning for all students
- Engage with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to student development
