Qualifications & Experience:
- Active North Carolina Special Education Teacher (SPED) licensure (required)
- Experience teaching or supporting students with diverse behavioral and academic needs, preferably in a self-contained setting
- Proven ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with paraprofessionals and related service staff
- Commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive classroom environment
- Capacity for adaptability, flexibility, and creative problem-solving
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver instruction tailored to individual student goals within a behavior-focused self-contained elementary classroom
- Collaborate closely with two paraprofessionals to ensure consistent support and structure throughout the school day
- Implement strategies to promote positive behaviors and social-emotional growth
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary team members regarding student progress
- Complete necessary documentation and participate in IEP meetings
- Follow all district and state requirements for special education compliance
