Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students in a self-contained behavioral classroom. This full-time position serves a single location and offers the chance to positively impact a small group of six students, alongside two dedicated paraprofessionals. You'll collaborate in a supportive school environment, working under state-wide special education guidelines.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina Special Education (SPED) teaching license required
- Experience in elementary education and/or behavioral classroom settings strongly preferred
- Strong classroom management, de-escalation, and individualized instruction skills
- Ability to develop tailored lesson plans and implement IEPs effectively
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable partnering with paraprofessionals and other staff
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction for elementary-aged students in a self-contained setting
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment with proactive behavioral supports
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals to maximize learning and safety
- Conduct ongoing assessments and update IEPs as needed, tracking student progress carefully
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain open, professional communication with team members and families
- Comply with all district, state, and federal guidelines for special education
