An elementary school in Rockville, MD, is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support students primarily in kindergarten through 2nd grade. This contract role will run for the current school year or until a permanent hire is made, with an immediate start date. The position involves working within a highly inclusive environment where most students receive in-class support, complemented by pull-out services as needed.

Responsibilities include managing a caseload of approximately 18 students, predominantly through resource services that balance pull-out and push-in instruction. Many students present behavioral challenges, so experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) is strongly preferred. Candidates should be flexible in adapting to fluctuating paraeducator support and collaborate effectively with support staff to meet student needs. Instruction covers all elementary subjects, aiming to provide comprehensive educational support tailored to each students learning profile.

Qualifications and desired experience:

• Maryland Special Education Certification for grades K5 (required or actively in process)
• Proven experience working with elementary-aged students within special education settings
• Familiarity with Behavior Intervention Plan development and implementation
• Ability to manage mixed caseloads in both push-in and pull-out instructional models
• Comfort working with fluctuating paraeducator support and collaborating as part of a team
• Preference for candidates experienced with students who have low cognitive profiles is noted but not mandatory
