Job Description

Take on a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education professional in a middle school setting near Rochester, MI. This contract role runs from as soon as possible through the end of the school year and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact working full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:40am to 2:43pm.

As the lead on a dynamic special education team, you will work directly with middle school students and fellow educators to create tailored lesson plans. Your expertise will guide the development of individualized education programs (IEPs) while providing critical support and mentorship to other special education teachers. Collaboration is central to this position, especially as you participate in student support initiatives and help shape inclusive classroom environments.

What were seeking:

  • Valid Michigan state certification in special education
  • Endorsement and proven experience teaching special education at the middle school level
  • Background as a Special Education Teacher, Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC), or similar specialization
  • Strong ability to lead collaborative lesson planning and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Comfort facilitating and participating in IEP processes
  • Commitment to supporting students with a range of learning differences

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading lesson planning for special education students at the middle school level
  • Coaching and guiding special education teaching staff
  • Participating actively in IEP meetings and implementation
  • Collaborating with general educators and support staff to ensure student success
  • Providing ongoing support for academic and behavioral interventions
