Job Description

Make a difference in students lives as a Special Education Teacher working with a diverse K-8 caseload for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position starts as soon as possible and continues through May 2026. Youll support a resource classroom setting at a school near Rochester, MI, working with students whose behavioral needs may vary. Both in-person and virtual interviews are available to suit your preferences.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification required
  • Previous experience teaching in resource and/or K-8 environments preferred
  • Strong ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet varied behavioral and academic needs
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort with IEP development and implementation
  • Collaborative spirit for working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver effective, differentiated instruction in a resource classroom setting for K-8 students
  • Manage and support students with varying behavioral and academic needs
  • Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
  • Partner with general education staff, support personnel, and families to foster student growth
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
