Make a positive impact supporting young learners as an experienced Special Education Teacher specializing in autism. This contract opportunity focuses on an elementary school environment, guiding a small caseload of 7 enthusiastic K-1 students. Youll work collaboratively alongside two dedicated paraprofessionals within the classroom and benefit from a dynamic, supportive Special Education team and administration. This position requires on-site, full-time commitment, offering a rewarding atmosphere where youll have meaningful influence on students academic and personal growth.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) certification required
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in early grades
- Familiarity with IEP development, behavioral strategies, and individualized instruction
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage both students and support staff effectively
- Comfort with collaboration and positive communication within team settings
- Commitment to maintaining a nurturing, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction aligned to IEP goals for students with autism in K-1st grade
- Foster a supportive, structured learning space with assistance from two skilled paraprofessionals
- Collaborate closely with the buildings SPED team to share insights, strategies, and resources
- Track student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate regularly with families and staff
- Employ evidence-based interventions and proactive behavioral management techniques
- Actively participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events to promote student success
