Job Description

An opportunity is available for a part-time Special Education and General Education teacher to provide critical instruction to a homebound first-grade student in the Remer area of Minnesota. This role offers flexibility in scheduling, with approximately 10 hours per week split between special education and general education services, potentially after regular school hours. The student requires tailored support due to cognitive impairment and other health disabilities, with instruction primarily delivered at school to meet safety and health considerations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction in both general education and special education to a homebound first-grade student.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support cognitive impairment and other health-related needs.
  • Coordinate with parents and school staff to create an effective, supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate progress regularly.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license.
  • Certification in Special Education in any area is required.
  • Certification in Elementary General Education is required.
  • Experience working with students with cognitive impairments and health-related disabilities (OHD).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including after-school sessions.

Location:

  • Position based in Remer, MN, with proximity to Ball Club (9 min), Suomi (17 min), and Grand Rapids (17 min).

This contract role runs from ASAP through June 2022, subject to change based on student needs. It is an ideal fit for educators certified in both special and general education seeking meaningful part-time engagement.
