Job Description

This opportunity seeks experienced Special Education Teachers to provide essential onsite support for K-12 students with severe disabilities. Serving students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), non-verbal challenges, difficult behaviors, and developmental delays, this role is critical in delivering adaptive curriculum instruction tailored to each child's unique needs.

Location: Reidsville, NC
Duration: Contract through the current school year, starting ASAP (December 1) through May 22, 2026
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6.5 hours per day (approximately 35 hours per week)
Classroom Size: Approximately 10 students per class, with paraeducator and behavior support (RBTs, BCBAs) assistance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specially designed instruction based on adapted curriculum models for K-12 students with severe disabilities
  • Manage classroom environments for students with diverse and complex needs, ensuring safety and engagement
  • Collaborate with paraeducators and behavior specialists to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) effectively
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to support developmental growth
  • Maintain thorough documentation and communicate regularly with families and school staff

Qualifications:

  • Active North Carolina license in Special Education, specifically in Adapted Curriculum Teachers or Cross-Categorical education (mild/moderate disabilities)
  • Must be willing to work onsite exclusively due to the severity of students disabilities
  • Experience working with K-12 populations with severe disabilities including ASD and behavioral challenges
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to coordinate with support personnel
