Job Description

A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available in Redford, MI, serving students in grades K2. This role focuses on providing specialized instruction to elementary students with cognitive impairments in an onsite school setting for the 2026-2027 academic year (specific dates to be determined).

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of students with cognitive impairments or autism spectrum disorder
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and classroom staff, to support student development
  • Maintaining a safe and supportive classroom environment that fosters academic growth and social-emotional learning
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies accordingly
  • Communicating regularly with parents and guardians about student performance and needs

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education License with a Cognitive Impairment (CI) or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) endorsement
  • Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or a commitment to obtain and renew this certification annually
  • Experience working with young children in a special education setting, preferably grades K2
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel
