Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Hold an active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for the appropriate grade band (Secondary)
  • Meet Rhode Islands Right to Read Act proficiency requirements or be willing to complete Structured Literacy certification within one year of hire
  • Prior experience working with students with EBD or severe behavioral challenges strongly preferred
  • Proficient in delivering specially designed instruction, behavioral intervention plans, and academic supports in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom setting
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and de-escalation skills
  • Collaborative approach with teachers, counselors, and school leadership

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily instruction and support to high school students in a self-contained special education classroom focused on social-emotional learning
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, accommodations, and behavioral strategies tailored to each students unique needs
  • Communicate with families, related service providers, and administrators to ensure student success
  • Maintain accurate documentation and data collection for progress monitoring and compliance
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes growth and learning
