Job Description

A Providence-based elementary school is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide full-time support for a third-grade classroom during a maternity leave assignment, running from mid-September through December. This opportunity offers a focused, impactful role where youll help foster the educational development and individual growth of young learners within a structured school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities in a third-grade classroom.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support staff to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and success.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and school personnel regarding student achievements and challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification is required.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in special education settings.
  • Strong knowledge of effective instructional strategies and IEP implementation.
  • Ability to manage classroom dynamics and support diverse learners.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Location and Schedule:

  • Position is located in Providence, Rhode Island.
  • Full-time commitment, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Assignment covers mid-September through December, supporting a maternity leave.
