An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to provide dedicated support for a third-grade class in an elementary school setting. This long-term substitute position runs from mid-September through December, covering a maternity leave. The role offers full-time hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing you to make a meaningful impact during the academic day.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized instruction tailored to students with special education needs
- Collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment
- Monitoring and documenting student progress in compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Utilizing differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learner abilities
- Coordinating with support personnel such as paraprofessionals or behavioral aides when available
Qualifications and experience desired:
- Valid Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably third grade
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Ability to engage and motivate young learners with individualized approaches
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Location: Portsmouth, Rhode Island working within a single elementary school environment.
