Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for a third-grade class. With a schedule set from mid-September through December, you will play a key role as a long-term substitute during a maternity leave. This is a full-time assignment, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, allowing you to focus your energies on one school and one classroom community.

In this position, youll work collaboratively with other educators and benefit from district-provided supervision and support. The role presents a fantastic opportunity for experienced Special Education Teachers who are passionate about guiding elementary students toward success.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification (required)
  • Experience in elementary education, preferably with third-grade students
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to create inclusive, differentiated lesson plans
  • Excellent communication skills with students, families, and team members
  • Ability to uphold a positive, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and support tailored to third-grade students with varied learning needs
  • Implement IEPs, progress-monitor student goals, and maintain accurate records
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers and support staff
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and needs
  • Foster student growth in both academic and social-emotional domains
