Job Description

Step into a valued role supporting elementary students as a long-term Special Education Teacher substitute this fall. This full-time contract position spans from mid-September through December, covering a maternity leave within a third-grade classroom. Located near Portsmouth, RI, youll work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, providing impactful instruction and individualized support for young learners.

Ideal qualifications and experience for this opportunity include:

  • Active Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification
  • Experience or strong interest in working with elementary-age students
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and families

  • Reliability and professionalism to fulfill the full duration of the assignment

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to meet students Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Modify curriculum and teaching methods to address diverse learning needs
  • Partner with general education teachers and paraprofessionals for cohesive support
  • Monitor, assess, and document student progress regularly
  • Communicate proactively with caregivers and school staff
  • Uphold all district, state, and federal regulations regarding special education
