Job Description
Make a positive impact in the lives of middle and high school students by providing exceptional support as a Special Education Teacher in a full-time, onsite position serving grades 7 through 11 in a self-contained classroom setting. As a valued contract educator, you will have the opportunity to foster growth, independence, and confidence in students with significant cognitive, developmental, and/or behavioral disabilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and implement individualized educational plans for students in a self-contained environment.
- Adapt curriculum to meet unique learning needs and encourage functional academic, social, and life skills development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (general education teachers, service providers, and families) to ensure holistic student success.
- Monitor and document student progress, conduct assessments, and provide regular updates to families and staff.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and supportive classroom culture that addresses diverse behavioral and emotional needs.
Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Special Education Teaching license required
- Emotional Impairment (EI) endorsement preferred
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening required
