An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to work onsite in Portage, MI, within an elementary school setting. This full-time contract position requires a commitment of 35 hours per week, focusing on supporting elementary students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with disabilities, promoting individualized educational growth.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with parents and caregivers.
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Michigan Special Education (SPED) teaching license.
- CI (Cognitive Impairment) or AI (Adapted/Alternative Instruction) endorsement is mandatory.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in a special education capacity is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
