Job Description
Take on an impactful contract position supporting students with exceptional needs in a self-contained classroom environment. This role is based onsite in the northwest region, primarily serving elementary students, though preferences for other age groups may be considered. As a self-contained ESE teacher, youll foster academic and personal growth for students with diverse abilities, creating a nurturing and structured learning setting.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Florida Exceptional Student Education (ESE) certification
- Valid K-6 or PK-3 General Education certification
- Demonstrated previous experience leading self-contained special education classrooms
- Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with service providers, families, and staff
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and adaptive to individualized student needs
Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained special education class, developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction, lesson modification, and behavioral support for students with a range of learning levels and exceptionalities
- Monitor student progress, maintain thorough documentation, and work closely with support staff
- Communicate regularly with parents, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ensure a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Complete all district and state credentialing and fingerprinting requirements timely
- Participate in relevant school meetings, trainings, and professional development
This position offers a consistent weekday schedule of 35 hours per week, onsite with one school assignment for the full academic year (August to May). The contract includes compliance with time-sensitive credentialing steps, including fingerprint verification and internal prescreen interviews.
