Seeking dedicated and compassionate educators with a strong background in special education to support students in a dynamic learning environment. This full-time contract opportunity is perfect for Special Education Teachers passionate about working with elementary-aged children who have diverse and significant needs.
Your expertise will be critical in providing instruction and support for students from K-5th grades in substantially separate classroom settings. Classrooms serve students with severe cognitive and physical disabilities, including those who require toileting assistance, have autism spectrum disorders, and are non-verbal. Some students benefit from RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) support. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience implementing specially designed instruction and applied behavior analysis.
Qualifications:
- Current teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students who have significant cognitive and physical disabilities.
- Familiarity with applied behavior analysis and differentiated instructional strategies.
- Comfortable assisting with personal care and toileting needs.
- Strong classroom management and collaborative skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-verbal students using alternative communication methods.
- Commitment to onsite work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide specially designed instruction according to each students needs.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including support staff and RBTs.
- Offer attentive and compassionate support with daily living activities and toileting.
- Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment for all students.
- Track and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
