Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting the growth and success of students with special needs. An experienced Special Education Teacher is needed to fill a maternity leave at an elementary school, working with a dedicated high-functioning life skills class for approximately three months.

Youll engage with a small caseload of about 8 students, supported by a team of three talented Teacher Assistants, ensuring individualized attention and growth. The assignment runs weekdays from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch), beginning mid-October and concluding in mid-January. You will have the chance to collaborate with school staff and positively influence students daily experiences, as well as guide and inspire Teacher Assistants in the classroom environment.

Qualifications:

• Valid and active Special Education Educator Certificate.
• Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher, ideally in elementary settings.
• Familiarity with high-functioning life skills instruction.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and behavior management skills.
• Able to adapt instructional approaches to individual learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver individualized instruction to a small life skills class.
• Write and implement IEP goals, documenting student progress.
• Foster a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with Teacher Assistants to maximize instructional support.
• Communicate regularly with families, related services staff, and administrators.
• Monitor and adapt strategies to promote each students success and independence.
