Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting middle school students in a self-contained classroom setting for those with severe disabilities. This on-site position is perfect for an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to make a tangible difference in a collaborative, student-centered environment. The assignment is set to run from August 13, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Valid NE SPED teaching license
- Prior experience working in self-contained classrooms or with students who have severe disabilities preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), progress monitoring, and differentiated instruction
- Effective communication skills for interacting with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and implement appropriate lesson plans tailored to students with significant learning needs
- Administer assessments and contribute to IEP development and review for each student in the caseload
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes growth and independence
- Collaborate with fellow educators, related-service providers, and families to ensure holistic support for each student
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and document all necessary compliance per school and state requirements
