Job Description
A school district in the Kansas City metropolitan area is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers for multiple K-12 positions catering to diverse learning needs. These contract roles will start ASAP and extend through 5/22/26, supporting students in both resource and self-contained classrooms across a variety of specialized programs.
Available positions (14 total) include:
- Life Skills Teacher (Caruthers Elementary 2 openings; Frances Willard; Silver City)
- Autism Teacher (Douglas Elementary)
- Medically Fragile Teacher (Frances Willard; Silver City)
- Specialized Learning Classroom (SLC) Teacher (Lowell Brune; New Chelsea; Stony Point South; Welborn Elementary; Argentine; Central; Eisenhower)
- Behavior Support Classroom (BSC) Teacher (Arrowhead)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction based on students unique educational needs.
- Manage caseloads ranging from 8 to 18 students.
- Collaborate with families, classroom teachers, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with state and federal special education regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Kansas teaching license with Special Education endorsement.
- Experience working in resource and/or self-contained special education classrooms.
- Ability to work with students across a wide age range (K-12) and varying disabilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Location:
- Positions are based in schools within the Kansas City, Kansas area.
