A range of Special Education teaching opportunities are available within a K-12 school district located in the Kansas City metro area. This contract role spans the current school year, beginning as soon as possible through May 22, 2026, and offers positions in both resource and self-contained classrooms to support diverse student needs.
Available Positions Include:
- Life Skills Teachers (2) at Elementary level
- Autism Teacher (1) at Elementary level
- Life Skills/Medically Fragile Teacher (1)
- Specialized Learning Classroom (SLC) Teachers (Multiple sites, including Lowell Brune, New Chelsea, Stony Point South, Welborn Elementary, Argentine, Central, Eisenhower)
- Medically Fragile Teacher (1)
- Life Skills/SAILS Teacher (1)
- Behavioral Support Classroom (BSC) Teacher (1)
Caseload sizes range from 8 to 18 students, depending on the assignment.
Qualifications:
- Active Kansas teaching licensure in Special Education is required
- Experience working in resource and/or self-contained settings preferred
- Ability to tailor instruction to meet students individual learning and behavioral needs
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for K-12 students
- Provide academic and behavioral support aligned with each students goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Maintain accurate records and communicate progress regularly
Location: Various schools across the Kansas City metro area
