Job Description
Make a difference supporting young learners as a contract special education teacher in a welcoming primary school setting. This full-time opportunity offers you the chance to guide and empower a kindergarten and first grade self-contained instructional classroom. Your expertise will be highly valued as you help students achieve their full potential in a supportive and collaborative environment.
What youll bring:
- Valid LBS1 license required
- Experience teaching elementary students, ideally primary (kindergarten or first grade)
- Strong classroom management skills and a passion for differentiated instruction
- Familiarity with IEP processes and progress monitoring
- Ability to build rapport with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptability and creativity to engage young learners with diverse needs
Key responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained K-1 classroom, providing individualized and small-group instruction
- Implement IEPs and adjust teaching strategies to meet student goals
- Maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages growth and success
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and administrators
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Track data, manage documentation, and participate in IEP and staff meetings
- Foster social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing setting
