Job Description
This position seeks an experienced Special Education Teacher to work with elementary students in a school setting in Norwich, CT. This contract role requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, focusing on delivering specialized instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher License appropriate for the elementary grade level
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in a special education capacity
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and related compliance
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs that address students academic and social-emotional needs
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress regularly
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes growth and independence
- Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development sessions
