Job Description

This position seeks an experienced Special Education Teacher to work with elementary students in a school setting in Norwich, CT. This contract role requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, focusing on delivering specialized instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher License appropriate for the elementary grade level
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in a special education capacity
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and related compliance
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs that address students academic and social-emotional needs
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
  • Monitor, assess, and document student progress regularly
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes growth and independence
  • Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development sessions
