Job Description

A full-time special education teaching opportunity is available in Norwalk, CT, supporting middle and high school students with diverse learning needs. This contract position begins immediately and runs through early June 2026, offering dedicated educators the chance to make a positive impact in a focused classroom setting.

Two positions are open:

  • Middle School Role: Teach self-contained math and science to 7th and 8th graders (2 sections each), as well as co-teach two social studies classes. Typical daily hours are 7:25 AM to 3:15 PM, with a caseload of 8-10 students.

  • High School Role: Provide direct instruction in English Language Arts (ELA) and college seminar courses for 11th and 12th graders, alongside co-teaching responsibilities. Hours run 7:25 AM to 3:30 PM, serving 8-10 students.

Qualifications:

  • Valid LBS1 certification and Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Masters degree in Special Education or related field
  • Experience teaching grades 7-12 in self-contained and co-taught settings
  • Ability to deliver both direct instruction and collaborative lesson planning
  • Must be prepared for a flexible Zoom interview process with prompt hiring decisions

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with student needs
  • Manage classroom environments that foster student growth and engagement
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support co-taught classes
  • Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with families and staff

This role does not include paraeducator or clinical supervision but offers a focused teaching caseload in supportive school communities. Flexible interview scheduling allows for swift placement.
