Desired Qualifications:

  • Current Rhode Island Department of Education certification as an All Grades Special Education Severe Intellectual Disabilities Teacher
  • Experience teaching students with severe to profound disabilities at elementary level
  • Deep understanding of IEPs, differentiated instruction, and adaptive curriculum
  • Patience, creativity, and strong communication skills
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset focused on student-centered learning

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver individualized instruction for elementary-age students with severe/profound intellectual disabilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in coordination with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • Adapt lessons to meet a diverse range of learning and developmental needs
  • Assess student progress using a variety of functional and academic measures
  • Foster a supportive classroom culture that prioritizes safety, respect, and inclusion for all students
  • Communicate effectively with staff and caregivers to support students goals
