Special Education Teacher

Are you passionate about helping students with diverse learning needs achieve meaningful growth? Were looking for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a collaborative, student-centered school team. In this role, youll provide individualized instruction and support students academic, social, and behavioral success.

Position Details

  • Job Type: Full-Time, 32.5 hours per week, Full School Year
  • Caseload: K12th grades; details discussed during the interview
  • Location: North Haven, CT

What Youll Do

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provide specialized instruction tailored to students strengths, needs, and learning goals
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to support access to learning
  • Monitor student progress and use data to adjust instructional strategies
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
  • Implement positive behavior supports and foster an inclusive classroom environment
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate student progress
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal special education requirements

What Were Looking For

  • Valid Connecticut teaching certification with an appropriate special education endorsement for the assigned grade levels
  • Bachelors degree in special education or a related field
  • Prior experience supporting students with disabilities preferred
  • Strong skills in differentiated instruction, IEP development, and classroom management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • A commitment to helping every student reach their potential
