Job Description

This full-time contract position spans the 2026-2027 academic year, with scheduled hours from 7:15 am to 3:15 pm, Monday through Friday. Youll be part of a dedicated team committed to creating a nurturing, engaging space for young learners with mild to moderate needs in a self-contained classroom.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current Special Education licensure or eligibility in North Carolina
  • Experience teaching students with special needs, preferably in a self-contained, mild to moderate setting
  • Familiarity with EC (Exceptional Children) program requirements and best practices
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with colleagues, families, and related service providers
  • Understanding of IEP development and compliance processes
  • Compassionate, patient, and creative approach to classroom management and lesson delivery

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to students goals and abilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for a caseload of 12 middle school students
  • Maintain student records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages growth and independence
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, assistants, and related service providers
  • Engage families in their childrens educational journey
