Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility) for North Carolina
- Strong background working with middle school students in special education settings
- Experience with mild to moderate needs in a self-contained classroom is highly valued
- Ability to manage individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Skilled in adapting curriculum, instructional strategies, and classroom management for various learning styles
- Positive attitude, patience, and effective communication with students, parents, and staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction to a caseload of 12 students with mild to moderate disabilities in a self-contained classroom
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, tracking progress and goal attainment throughout the academic year
- Foster an inclusive, supportive environment to encourage independence and social-emotional growth
- Communicate regularly with families and support staff, offering meaningful feedback and collaborating on best practices
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to support academic and behavioral success
- Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:15am to 3:15pm, allowing for consistent work-life balance during the school year. You'll play an essential part in empowering students to reach their full potential through tailored instruction, support, and encouragement.
