Job Description

Make a difference in the lives of middle school students with special needs as a dedicated Special Education Teacher in a supportive contract role. This full-time opportunity runs from ASAP through the end of the academic year and focuses on serving one middle school site near New Milford, CT, within an AIM program designed for behavioral students.

In this position, you'll provide both push-in and pull-out services, offering direct instruction and meaningful support to middle schoolers who benefit from adaptive strategies and targeted interventions. Youll work collaboratively with school staff to create a positive, structured learning environment that encourages student growth and achievement.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut Special Education (CT SPED) license required
  • Experience working with behavioral and/or AIM program students preferred
  • Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
  • Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and supports to students in both push-in and pull-out settings
  • Develop and implement effective behavior management strategies
  • Write and contribute to IEPs, progress reports, and daily documentation as needed
  • Regularly collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training
