Step into a meaningful role as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students on a full-time contract basis. This opportunity is designed for someone who is passionate about fostering growth and academic success in young learners, while contributing specialized expertise in special education.
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut special education teacher license with appropriate grade level certification
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Previous experience in an elementary school setting preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to create engaging, differentiated instructional plans tailored to diverse student needs
In this position, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing direct instruction and academic interventions to students with varying exceptionalities
- Developing and carrying out individualized education plans (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Employing research-based strategies and accommodations to support student learning and emotional well-being
- Collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure cohesive support
- Maintaining accurate records of student progress and participating in case management and IEP meetings
