A rewarding opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support students in an Intensive Autism Classroom serving children from Kindergarten through 5th grade. This contract position is based in Fairfield, CT, and seeks a dedicated professional skilled in special education practices tailored for young learners with autism spectrum disorder.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum to meet diverse learning needs, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Maintaining detailed records of student progress and communicating effectively with families and staff are essential duties.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification in Special Education
- Experience working with children with autism, preferably ages K-5
- Strong understanding of behavioral management strategies and inclusive teaching
