This travel opportunity is for two Special Education Teachers to work in a dedicated Pre-K to 1st Grade Autism classroom in New Brunswick, NJ. The position involves supporting 6 non-verbal students in a self-contained classroom environment, alongside two paraprofessionals and a collaborative team that includes BCBA, OT, and PT specialists.
Teachers will work elementary school hours from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The role demands experience in supporting high-needs students with autism, particularly those who are often nonverbal. Emphasis is placed on advancing functional behavior and communication skills to enhance student growth and promote independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students with autism in a structured classroom setting
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals and specialized therapists to implement behavior and communication plans
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting strategies to meet changing needs
- Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages student autonomy and development
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification, either TOSD + PreK-3 or TOH
- Proven experience working with students on the autism spectrum, particularly in non-verbal and high-needs settings
- Insight into functional behavior assessments and communication support strategies
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
