Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing dedicated, individualized instruction in a private special education setting. This full-time opportunity (37.5 hours per week) spans from July 2026 through July 2027, supporting approximately seven students aged 11-16, and offers a unique chance to shape a close-knit classroom experience. The campus is conveniently located near New Britain, CT, with a supportive environment that values collaboration and student-centered teaching.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active and valid Connecticut Special Education (CT SPED) teaching certification required
- Background or experience working with middle school or early high school students (ages 11-16) preferred
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum and instruction for students with diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience or interest in small group or individualized instruction
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student abilities and goals
- Deliver engaging lessons to meet academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
- Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Maintain accurate student records and ongoing documentation
- Actively participate in team meetings and professional development sessions
- Support classroom management and promote self-regulation skills in students
