Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification (Connecticut certification required or ability to obtain)
  • Experience teaching students with autism spectrum disorders is highly preferred
  • Background in developing and implementing IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
  • Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for working with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt instructional techniques to meet various learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support students academic, social, and behavioral progress in both an autism-specific class and a resource room setting
  • Develop creative lesson plans tailored to individual student needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and related service providers
  • Maintain accurate student records, document progress, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Implement differentiated instructional strategies and behavioral supports
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
