Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (Connecticut certification required or ability to obtain)
- Experience teaching students with autism spectrum disorders is highly preferred
- Background in developing and implementing IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
- Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for working with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt instructional techniques to meet various learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support students academic, social, and behavioral progress in both an autism-specific class and a resource room setting
- Develop creative lesson plans tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and related service providers
- Maintain accurate student records, document progress, and participate in IEP meetings
- Implement differentiated instructional strategies and behavioral supports
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
