Job Description

Take the next step in your special education teaching journey with two exciting opportunities supporting 5th and 6th grade students for the 2026-2027 school year. These full-time, contract positions begin in August and run through June, offering a chance to make a significant impact in a dynamic New England school environment.

Youll serve in one of two critical roles on a welcoming and collaborative special education team:

  • Resource Room Teacher: Guide a group of approximately 15 students, developing individualized support plans and fostering growth in an inclusive setting.
  • Life Skills/Intensive Needs Teacher: Lead a self-contained classroom (three students) focused on significant medical and/or autism spectrum support, with dedicated paraprofessionals for each student.

Both roles are essential in maintaining continuity and excellence after recent staff transitions.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid NH Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility)
  • Prior experience in K-6 settings, especially resource room or self-contained classrooms
  • Knowledge of IEP process and documentation
  • Able to collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
  • Comfort working with students with autism or complex medical needs (for Life Skills/Intensive Needs position)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans in accordance with federal and state guidelines
  • Adapt curriculum and modify instruction to address a diverse set of learning needs
  • Track student progress and maintain accurate records
  • Work closely with fellow educators, support staff, and families to promote student success
  • Foster a safe, encouraging, and responsive learning environment

This is a full school-year commitment with a Monday through Friday schedule (3237.5 hours per week).
