Make a significant impact as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive, center-based classroom focused on students with developmental cognitive disabilities (DCD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This contract opportunity spans the 20262027 school year, within a highly collaborative environment serving a small K2 student group. Key Requirements and Desired Skills:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License
- Preferred: additional licensure in ASD, DCD, ABS, or cross-categorical SPED
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities
- Strong skills in writing IEPs, collecting progress data, and delivering individualized interventions
- Expertise in behavioral support strategies and maintaining classroom structure
- Ability to effectively collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and student families
- Preferred: Experience in a center-based autism program
- Working knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
- Familiarity with sensory regulation and functional skills instruction
Role Highlights and Responsibilities:
- Lead academic, behavioral, and functional instruction for a class of approximately six high-needs K2 students
- Plan, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring holistic student progress
- Provide proactive behavioral guidance and adjustments to meet student needs
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary staff
- Engage in ongoing communication with families and support teams
