Job Description
Step into a dynamic role impacting young learners in a specialized elementary classroom dedicated to supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs. As a Special Education Teacher in a structured setting, you'll help create positive outcomes for a small caseload of Grades 35 students. This full-time contract runs from late August 2026 to early June 2027, giving you the opportunity to focus deeply on academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and behavioral development.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Active Minnesota Special Education Teaching License required
- EBD (Emotional Behavioral Disorders) licensure strongly preferred
- Experience in center-based/high-needs behavioral settings
- Skilled in developing and implementing IEPs, BIPs, classroom interventions, and progress monitoring
- Expertise in classroom management and de-escalation techniques
- Strong communicator and collaborative team member
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care or PBIS/CPI approaches is a plus
- Prior work with elementary-level behavioral caseloads preferred
- Previous Setting III/center-based classroom experience highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted academic, behavioral, and social-emotional instruction to a classroom of around six students
- Develop, update, and monitor individualized education and behavior plans
- Employ effective management and de-escalation strategies to support student success
- Foster a structured, supportive learning environment with the help of classroom support staff
- Collaborate closely with fellow educators, service providers, and families
